The Beatles join Rock Band

Harmonix Music Systems, the Cambridge company that created Rock Band, will be part of a group developing a new interactive music video game based on the music of the Beatles, a legendary rock group of the 1960s.”

“The press release included a statement from Sir Paul McCartney, who said: ‘The project is a fun idea which broadens the appeal of The Beatles and their music. I like people having the opportunity to get to know the music from the inside out.’

from Boston.com.

I will play this. It sounds like a lot of fun. I’m having vague feelings about how it’s bad that people will discover this great music through a video game, but that is ridiculous. It’s not my music (I only think it is), and people discovering it and enjoying it is what it’s all about. I’m working on it. I just hope it sounds good.

Radiohead – Reckoner video

This blew me away. It so beautiful and it’s not even an official video (though Radiohead has a history of talented fan videos). Anyway, it’s one of my favorite songs from their last album (a tough call!).

Multicolr

Multicolr is cool color tool from Idee Labs. They’ve created a color database for some of flickr’s most interesting pictures, and made them searchable by selecting on or more colors. Click a couple a try it.

Jumbolair

Sick and tired of having your driver pick you up at the airport after you get off your private aircraft? Ever wished your airplane could just drop you off at your door? Well, Jeremy and Terri Jones have you in mind. They’ve created Jumbolair, “America’s premier aviation community,” where your plane DOES drop you off at your door. It’s gated community where people build (enormous) houses and park their planes like cars in the driveway. Act now and you can be neighbors with John Travolta!

  • Hilarious: someone took the classic music video for “Take On Me” by A-ha and reworked the lyrics to describe exactly what is happening in the video.

In Deceberists news

As it approaches that time of year, the Decemberists are preparing to release a series of three EPs. The first tells the story of Valerie Plame, the spy outed by her own government. Leave it to them to fill a recent news story with trademark wistful intrigue and romance.

Listen to it at the Portland Mercury blog, where they are smart to note the Hey Jude harmonies near the end.
